Configuring Casing for Efficient Receiving
Casing, or the process of packaging units into larger containers, is currently integrated only with the receiving process in Tracktile. This setup is based on supplier packaging specifications, with future plans to extend this functionality to orders and shipments.
Setting Up Casing in the Catalog
Navigate to the Catalog: Access the Catalog and select the item you wish to configure for casing.
Add Casing Configuration: Scroll to the casing section and click on the "Add casing" option. Enter the name of the primary packaging and the quantity it contains.
Configure Secondary Packaging: To add another layer of packaging, click "Add casing" again. Input the name of the secondary packaging. For layered packaging setups, such as eggs first placed in cartons and then in larger cardboard boxes, specify the relationship between these packaging layers. Select the primary packaging unit from the dropdown that appears, ensuring the system understands how the secondary packaging is structured around the primary units.
Add Additional Packaging Layers: If necessary, continue to add more packaging layers by repeating the previous steps, tailoring the setup to meet your specific needs.
Save Configurations: Once all casing details are entered, save the changes to finalize the setup.
Using Casing in the Receiving Process
- Go to the Receiving Stage: Navigate to the Floor page and locate the Receiving stage.
- Initiate Receiving: Click the "Receive" button to start the receiving process for an item configured with casing options.
Select Casing Option: During the receiving process, you'll see the casing options displayed above the item name. Select the appropriate casing option, and the system will automatically calculate the total amount received based on the selected casing configuration.
By setting up and utilizing casing configurations, you can streamline the receiving process, ensuring that inventory is accounted for in a manner that aligns with how items are physically received. This method not only simplifies the counting and storage of goods but also prepares the system for more complex ordering and shipment processes involving detailed packaging configurations in the future.
