Supported Scale Indicators
Overview
Our system is compatible with any modern, network-enabled scale indicator. Both Wi-Fi and Ethernet connected indicators are supported, as the vast majority of network-enabled indicators on the market today follow the same standard communication protocols.
This article outlines what hardware will work, what we recommend, and what to look for when sourcing a new indicator.
Compatibility Requirements
To integrate with our platform, a scale indicator must meet the following criteria:
- Network connectivity — the indicator must support either Wi-Fi or Ethernet (wired) network communication.
- Standard protocol support — most modern indicators communicate using common, well-documented protocols. If the indicator can stream or serve weight data over the network, it will almost certainly work with our system.
- Modern firmware — older serial-only indicators that have been adapted with a serial-to-Ethernet bridge can also work, but a natively network-enabled indicator is strongly preferred for reliability and ease of setup.
Recommended Hardware
We recommend Rice Lake indicators. We have a large installed base of Rice Lake equipment already in production, which means:
- Proven compatibility and stability with our platform.
- Faster troubleshooting, since our team has the most experience with this brand.
- Easier sourcing of replacement parts and accessories.
Preferred Model
Our recommended indicator is the Rice Lake 682 Synergy Series Digital Weight Indicator.

Other Brands
While Rice Lake is our preferred vendor, you are not locked into that brand. Most network-enabled indicators from major manufacturers follow the same protocols and will integrate without issue. If you are evaluating a different brand or model, confirm that it supports network connectivity (Wi-Fi or Ethernet) and reach out if you would like us to verify compatibility before purchase.
Need Help?
If you are unsure whether a specific indicator will work, or you need assistance configuring a new unit, contact our support team with the make and model and we will be happy to confirm compatibility.
