Managing Inventory Status: On Hold and Release Process
Ensuring that each inventory item is verified for quality and compliance before it's used in production is crucial. Tracktile allows you to set an initial status for items upon receipt, and later update this status once the items are cleared for use.
Setting Initial Inventory Status
- Navigate to the Catalog Page: Go to the Catalog page and select an item to modify.
Configure Initial Status: In the Inventory Settings section, find the Inventory Initial Status Configuration. Choose from the dropdown options—either "Active" or "On Hold." By default, items are set to "Active."
- Save Changes: Confirm your settings by saving the changes.
Receiving Items with Status Indicators
When items are received from a supplier, whether through a Purchase Order or other means, items set as "On Hold" will display a red "On Hold" warning label. Learn more about receiving items from a supplier here.
Releasing 'On Hold' Items
Item Verification: Once the necessary checks on an item are completed, users with "update item" permissions can update its status.
Access Item Information: Click on the 'i' icon to open the item info modal.
Edit Status: Switch to the "Edit" tab, locate the "On Hold" toggle, and deactivate it. Enter a reason for the status change and save your update.
- Check Updates: Refresh the page to ensure that the label is removed, confirming that the item’s status has updated to "Active" and is now visible without the label.
Managing 'On Hold' Status
To reactivate the 'On Hold' status for any item, follow the same steps but activate the toggle instead. Items with 'On Hold' status will be marked throughout the system, alerting you that they are pending further checks or clearance but are still available for use if necessary.
By effectively managing the 'On Hold' and 'Release' statuses, you maintain control over inventory quality and readiness, ensuring that only approved items enter your production workflow. This process not only safeguards your operations but also upholds product standards and regulatory compliance.
