Managing External Locations
Efficient management of external locations is crucial for businesses with multiple storage or production sites. Tracktile simplifies this process through its Flow Builder and permissions settings. Here’s how you can manage and track inventory across external locations.
Initial Setup
- Add External Locations: External locations are added to the Flow Builder with assistance from our team to ensure proper configuration.
Accessing External Location Inventory
- Permission Settings: To view inventory at an external location:
Navigate to Facility Settings and select the Permissions tab.
- Click on the permission group you want to modify.
Enable access to the external location under Floor permissions.
User Access: Users assigned to the modified permission group will now be able to access the external location inventory directly from the Floor page.
Managing Transfers to External Locations
Creating a Transfer: To transfer items to an external location, follow the steps outlined in our guide on Transfers.
- Entering External LOT Numbers:
During the transfer process, you’ll find an optional field for entering an external LOT number in the shipping order table.
This number can be added at the time of transfer or later modified by revisiting the transfer record or directly from the external location stage after the transfer is complete.
Tracking and History
Item History: All changes, including the assignment of external LOT numbers, are recorded in the item's history. This ensures traceability and accountability for items moved to and from external locations.
- Re-transfers and History: If an item is transferred back from an external location, the external LOT number remains recorded in the history, providing a full audit trail.
Conclusion
By leveraging Tracktile’s features for external locations management, businesses can ensure accurate tracking and management of inventory across multiple locations, enhancing overall operational efficiency and control.
