Planning Open Recipes with No Target Quantities
In many production scenarios, flexibility is key—particularly when it comes to producing items without a predefined target quantity. Tracktile accommodates this need through the option to plan open recipes, which are recipes scheduled without specific quantity goals.
Getting Started with Recipe Planning
First, familiarize yourself with the fundamentals of scheduling and planning recipes by visiting our Introduction to the Production Calendar.
Setting Up an Open Plan
Choose a Recipe: After selecting the recipe you wish to schedule, navigate to the production configuration screen.
Activate Open Plan: Locate and toggle on the option named "Open Plan." This setting allows the recipe to be executed without a predefined target quantity.
Option to Track Outputs:
- If you wish to monitor the quantities produced, check the box next to the output section. This will enable tracking of the actual quantities produced during each execution.
- If monitoring is not needed, leave this box unchecked.
How Tracking Influences Visibility
- With Tracking Enabled: When tracking is activated, managers can view the quantities produced directly on the planning page. Floor workers will also see notes on the Make Product screen about how much has already been produced, providing real-time feedback and tracking.
- Without Tracking: If tracking is not selected, the recipe will appear on the planning page as just another planned activity without updates on the quantities produced. This setup is ideal for processes where the focus is on continuous production without the need to measure output precisely.
Planning open recipes in Tracktile offers valuable flexibility, allowing your team to adapt to production demands dynamically. Whether you choose to track output quantities or not, this feature ensures that your production processes remain agile and responsive to operational needs.
