Automatic Bundle Creation During Production
Automatically create bundles during production — no manual scanning required.
Overview
Automatic Bundle Creation lets items bundle themselves as they're produced in Make Product. Instead of scanning individual items into a bundle after production, the system creates the bundle for you — and optionally prints the bundle label.
Available on: Premium, Enterprise
How it works
When auto-bundling is enabled for a recipe:
- Regular and Auto-Produce recipes — a new bundle is created each time the operator produces.
- Continuous Fixed and Continuous Variable recipes — items accumulate in the current bundle until its full, then new bundle is started.
Setup
Prerequisites
Auto-bundling requires a default bundle quantity to be set on the catalog item. The auto-bundle toggle will not appear on recipes or in Make Product if no bundle quantity is configured on the item.
Step 1 — Enable the recipe default
- Open the Recipe Editor for the recipe you want to configure
- In the Recipe Output section, find the Auto-Bundle toggle
- Turn it ON to make auto-bundling the default when operators open Make Product for this recipe
This toggle is only visible if the output catalog item has a default bundle quantity set.
Step 2 — Configure label printing
Label printing during auto-bundling is controlled by two settings in Facility Settings → Barcodes & Labels:
| Setting | What it controls |
|---|---|
| Print Labels on Make Product | Whether the Print Labels toggle is ON by default in Make Product |
| Auto-bundle Label Printing | Which labels print when a bundle is created: Bundle Label, Item Label, or Both |
Step 3 — Set the permission
To allow operators to change the auto-bundle toggle at runtime (not just use the recipe default), enable the Control Auto-bundling permission in Facility Settings → Permissions → Make Product.
Using auto-bundling in Make Product
Turning auto-bundling on or off at runtime
For Regular, Continuous Fixed, and Continuous Variable recipes, an Auto-Bundle toggle appears on the Make Product screen next to the recipe output. The toggle defaults to whatever is set in the recipe editor.
Operators with the Control Auto-bundling permission can change this toggle per session.
Adjusting label settings at runtime
A Label Settings option is accessible near the Print Labels toggle on the Make Product screen. Opening it shows:
- Label Type — select which label template to use (defaults to the catalog item's default label)
- Auto-bundle Label Printing — select Bundle Label, Item Label, or Both (defaults to the facility setting)
Both overrides apply to the current session only. Operators need the Select Labels to Print permission to change these options.
